Sita Jayanti 2020: Sita Jayanti will be celebrated on 16 February. It is also known as Sita Jayanti and Sita Ashtami. According to the Hindu calendar, the Janaki Jayanti festival is celebrated on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha of the month of Falgun. Goddess Sita is specially worshiped on this day. Janaki Jayanti is also known as Sita Ashtami. It is a very auspicious day for the Hindu religious faith. On this day, Suhagan women fast for the long life of their husband. Worshiping Mother Sita on this day brings an end to the troubles in marital life. This day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Mother Sita. Mother Sita was the daughter of King Janak. Therefore, Mother Sita is also known as Janaki.

Story of birth of Sita Mata

According to mythology, Mithila once had a terrible famine. A yagna was being organized to remove it. King Janaka was running the plow in the field for the Yajna ritual. Then a girl was born. King Janak took him in his lap. In Maithili language, the plow is called Sita, so Janak Ji named her Sita. Being a Janaka daughter, Sita is called Janaki, Janakatmaja and Janakasuta. Being the princess of Mithila, she is also called Maithili.

Worship Sita Mata with this method

On waking up in the morning on this day, take a bath and get ready and take a resolution of Sita Jayanti fast. And then install the idol of Mata Sita and Shri Rama at the place of worship. Now start the worship with worship of Ganesha and Ambika. After this, offer yellow flowers, clothes and makeup to Sita ji. Offer intact, roli, sandalwood, incense, myrrh, sweets etc. After this, chant the mantra of Shree Sita-Ramayya Namah or Shri Sitayai Namah. Offer fruits and fruits to Sita Mata and perform Aarti with complete method. Later distribute the Prasad among all.
